|Juanita Judy Vitousek was born in Silverton, OR on May 22, 1892. Juanita Judy lived in California as a child. She studied painting with Millard Sheets and design at UC. After graduation, she married attorney Roy Vitousek in 1914 and lived in Healdsburg, CA before moving to Hawaii in 1917. Most of her career was spent as a resident of the Islands; however, she was active in California in the 1930s and an avid traveler. Her landscapes and floral studies are signed simply “Vitousek.” The artist died in Honolulu on Aug. 7, 1988.
